The home of the Leghs of Adlington since 1315, the Hall was built on the site of a hunting lodge dating from 1040, the oak trees supports of which still form part of the building. The Great Hall contains a seventeenth century organ built in the style of 'Father' Bernard Smith and was played on by Handel. The gardens landscaped in the style of Capability Brown in the mid 18th century. Visitors may walk through the Wilderness area with its wide variety of trees, azaleas and rhododendrons. More recent additions include the maze, rose garden, herbaceous border and scented walkway.
