Belton House welcomes the visitor as a perfect example of an English Country House. Built in 1685 - 88 for 'Young' Sir John Brownlow, the design of the house is credited to the gentleman-architect William Winde, and is undoubtedly one of the loveliest examples of Restoration domestic architecture. The stunning interiors contain exceptionally fine plasterwork and wood-carving, as well as important collections of paintings, furniture, tapestries and silverware. There are also formal gardens and Orangery, a magnificent park and a large adventure playground.
