A water-balanced cliff railway (operating from Easter through October), offers a dramatic entrance to CAT's seven-acre display site. The Centre is run largely on home-grown renewable electricity and displays include solar, wind and water power and environmental building methods. The Centre is set amidst the forest and mountain scenery of Southern Snowdonia, with well-established and unique organic gardens incorporating companion planting, taste beds and permaculture methods as well as experiments in weed control and an extensive display on composting. Relax in the picnic area by the lake, or visit the accredited 'Taste of Wales' wholefood restaurant and cafe which offers tasty vegetarian lunches and refreshments. You can also visit Britain's 'greenest' building, featuring the specialist eco-friendly green gift and book shop and interactive information centre.
CAT is inspiring, informative and fun. You'll be amazed at how nature has reclaimed this former slate quarry, transforming it into a truly beautiful place.
