Hammerwood Park

Latrobe's design of the porticos of the White House in Washington derived directly from his ideas for his first house, Hammerwood Park, in 1792. The concept of the house and surrounding magnificent landscape were the product of both the French Revolution and the agricultural revolution and guided tours here give a great insight into the history of the time.
