Larmer Tree Gardens

Larmer Tree Gardens, nr Salisbury, Wiltshire The Larmer Tree Gardens are set high on the Cranborne Chase, providing exceptional views of the surrounding countryside. It is one of the most unusual gardens in England containing an extraordinary collection of Colonial and Oriental buildings, a Roman Temple and Open Air Theatre. The gardens are recognised as one of national importance and hold a unique place in history. Created in 1880 by General Pitt Rivers for the enjoyment and education of his estate workers and local people, it takes the name from the ancient Wych Elm, known as 'The Larmer Tree' which stood on the Wiltshire/Dorset border.
