Sudbury is one of the most individual of late 17th Century houses, with rich interior decoration including wood carving by Gibbons, superb plasterwork, and decorative murals and ceilings by Laguerre. The Great Staircase is the finest of its kind in an English country house. The Museum of Childhood is housed in the 19th century service wing of Sudbury Hall. The Museum contains fascinating and innovative displays about children from the 18th century onwards. There are chimney climbs for adventurous 'sweep sized' youngsters, a Victorian school room and the Betty Cadbury collection of 'playthings past', including toys and dolls.
