Traquair House

Traquair House, Innerleithen, Borders Scotland's oldest continually inhabited house dates back to the 12th century. Originally a hunting lodge for the kings of Scotland, it has been visited by 27 Scottish monarchs. There are strong associations with Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobites and there is a fascinating collection of books, embroideries and a secret stairway used by Catholic priests. In one of the wings of the house lies an 18th century working brewery that continues to brew one of the world famous Traquair House Ales and there is also a maze, craft workshops, gift and brewery shops, 1745 Cottage Restaurant and extensive woodland walks.
